Hello Toro Families!
As we reach the halfway point of the first quarter, we’re excited to share some important updates and information with our school community. In these udpates, you’ll find details about a no-school day for teacher professional learning, upcoming hearing and vision screenings, exciting programs such as the DGF Violin Club, and valuable support groups for families. Stay informed and engaged as we move through this quarter together!
📅 WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 23rd, 2024
- NO SCHOOL: Reminder, there will be no school for students on Monday, September 23rd, as it's a professional learning day for teachers. Enjoy the three-day weekend!
- 👂👓 HEARING & VISION SCREENING: This Thursday and Friday, students in grades K-5 will undergo hearing and vision screenings. Let's ensure our kids are seeing and hearing their best!
- 🎻 DGF VIOLIN CLUB: Interested in learning the violin? Our new after-school program starts on October 7th! Registration opens Monday, September 23rd. Spaces are limited, so don't wait! Scan the QR code or visit this link to sign up.
- 🍋 STUDENT SUPPORT GROUPS - Lemon Chat: Our Military Family Life Counselors (MFLC) are launching 'Lemon Chat' for students! Small groups for 1st and 2nd graders meet Mondays from 9:55 AM to 10:35 AM & 10:45 AM to 11:25 AM, starting September 30th. 3rd to 5th graders meet Tuesdays at 10:05 AM, 10:50 AM, and 11:35 AM. Kindergarten groups meet Thursdays at 10:20 AM. Note: Participation requires a commitment during playground and lunch time, and an MFLC Parent Consent Form must be completed. - 📚 FAMILY DEPLOYMENT GROUP: Our Family Deployment Support Group meets the 3rd Thursday of every month from 2:50 PM to 4:00 PM in the DGF Elementary Library. Upcoming dates: October 17, November 14, and December 19, 2024. Connect and gain support during deployment. For details, contact Barbara Angstadt or Roneiko Henderson at 641-482-8656 or 262-856.
- 🧠 MONTHLY PARENT SUPPORT GROUP FOR CHILD MENTAL WELLNESS: Join us for our Monthly Parent Support Group focused on mental wellness! Learn strategies, recognize "red flags," and improve communication. Meetings on the first Wednesday of each month from 8:15 to 9:30 AM at the EDIS Building Conference Room, starting September 4th. - 📅 YEARLY & MONTHLY SCHOOL CALENDARS: Keep track of important dates by checking the Rota ES annual and monthly calendars.
- 🏫 SCHOOL HOURS: Doors open at 7:50 AM; classes begin at 8:05 AM. Late arrivals must be signed in by a parent. Office hours: 7:15 AM - 4:15 PM. Contact us at 856-82-0220 (off-base) or 682-0220 (DSN). Dismissal is at 2:35 PM daily, 1:35 PM on Wednesdays. Please plan childcare accordingly.
