Toro Parents,

I hope this message finds you well as we look forward to another exciting week at our school. As we head into the latter part of February, I wanted to share some important updates and events with all of you.

  • FRIENDSHIP DAY: On Wednesday, February 14th, the PTSA will be celebrating Valentine’s Day as Friendship Day. During lunch, all students will receive a treat, and for those with food allergies, an alternative snack will be provided. We are grateful to the PTSA for their efforts in fostering a culture of friendship within our school.

  • NO SCHOOL: Please note that there will be no classes on Friday, February 16th, due to teacher training sessions, and on Monday, February 19th, in observance of Presidents Day. Enjoy the extended weekend and make the most of the break!

  • SCHOOL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAC) MEETING: We invite you to join us for our upcoming School Advisory Committee (SAC) Q3 meeting on Tuesday, February 20th, at 3:15 p.m. Your input is invaluable to us, and you can choose to participate in person at the elementary school's library or virtually. Share your comments or questions, and feel free to submit your input anonymously through the following link: https://forms.office.com/r/ykQajcW4yk.

  • PARENT INTERVIEWS: We are hosting an Engagement Review Team from Cognia, an international accreditation agency, on February 21st and February 23rd. Parents are encouraged to participate in a 30-minute meeting with the Cognia team on Wednesday, February 21st, at 4:00 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Building (MPB) at the Rota School complex.

  • SCHOOL PICTURES: Get ready to say "Cheese!" Spring photos are scheduled for the week of February 26th. Please refer to the specific dates for each grade level as outlined in the newsletter to ensure your child's photo is taken on the designated day.

  • PURPLE UP! T-SHIRTS: April is the Month of the Military Child, and we are taking pre-orders for Purple Up t-shirts. Show your support by pre-ordering today and mark your calendars for the designated day when we encourage all students and staff to wear purple in honor of the resilience and courage of military children.

  • FIFTH-GRADE YEARBOOK DEDICATION: Celebrate your 5th-grade student's achievements in the DGF Elementary Yearbook with a personalized dedication. Place your order by March 1st to ensure your dedication is included in the yearbook using the following link: https://dgfptsa.memberhub.com/store/items/985567.

  • MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT: If you or your child are feeling stressed, remember that our community's Mental Health Roadmap offers resources and support. Please don't hesitate to reach out for assistance.

Additionally, we encourage you to review the attached documents for important information from our school calendars, lunch menus, and more.

Thank you for your ongoing support and participation in our school community. We look forward to an engaging and rewarding month ahead.
