Toro Families,

As we step into a new week, I want to highlight some of the key activities and opportunities awaiting us. With school picture days lined up, a meaningful 9/11 remembrance event, and engaging new programs starting, there’s much to be excited about. It's also a perfect time to ensure your child's immunizations are up-to-date and to participate in our School Advisory Committee elections.

  • SCHOOL PICTURES: 📸 Say cheese! School pictures are approaching the week of September 9th. Picture schedule: 
    • September 9th - 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades;
    • September 10th - 2nd, 4th grades, and PSCD;
    • September 11th - Prekindergarten and Kindergarten.
      Make-up pictures are on September 12th. 📅
  • WEAR BLUE ON SEPTEMBER 11TH: 💙 Students and staff are asked to wear blue on September 11th, in remembrance of 9/11. Students will participate in a morning event, showing our support for this day of remembrance. 🌟
  • 9/11 EVENT: 🕊️ On Wednesday, September 11th, students will participate in a school-wide ceremony honoring 9/11. The event will take place at approximately 8:30 AM in the courtyard, and parents are warmly invited to attend this brief but meaningful ceremony. 🙏
  • DODEA IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS: 🏥 Please be advised that all students enrolled at DGF Elementary School must be fully immunized according to DoDEA regulations. Failure to provide updated immunization records upon enrollment or when requested by school officials may result in your child's inability to attend school. For a complete list of required immunizations, please refer to the attached document. 📜
  • 🗳️ SAC Election Now Open!
    Rota Elementary Parents, we are excited to announce that the election for our School Advisory Committee (SAC) representatives is now open! 🎉 We are seeking six dedicated parent representatives for the 2024-25 school year to collaborate with school leadership on important decisions regarding educational programs, resources, and policies. Voting is open until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13th. Please review the attached candidate biographies and cast your vote by clicking here. The elected representatives will be announced on Monday, September 16th. Thank you for your active participation in making Rota Elementary the best it can be! 💪
  • DGF VIOLIN CLUB: 🎻 Learn to play the violin in our new after-school program starting October 7th! Sign up opens on Monday, September 23rd. Limited spaces are available, so scan the QR code or visit the link https://forms.gle/C9Wgw1jEF7NfKr6d7 to register your child. ✍️
  • JOIN THE ESCOLANIA Y CORO JOVEN JARDIN MENESTEO! 🎤 Is your child passionate about singing? Enhance their vocal skills and boost their self-esteem while building lasting friendships. Our talented team, including Ms. Camacho from DGF, offers creative learning through both local and international music traditions. Interested?   • MONTHLY PARENT SUPPORT GROUP FOR CHILD MENTAL WELLNESS: 🧠 Feeling stuck in supporting your child’s mental health? Join our monthly Parent Support Group on Supporting You & Your Child’s Mental Wellness! In just 1 hour and 15 minutes, you’ll learn effective strategies to support both yourself and your child, recognize mental health “red flags,” and improve family communication. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month from 8:15 to 9:30 AM, starting September 4th at the EDIS Building Conference Room. For more information, please refer to the flyer. 🗓️
  • SCHOOL HOURS: 🕖 Doors open at 7:50 a.m.; classes start at 8:05 a.m. Late arrivals must be signed in by a parent. Office hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. daily. Contact: 856-82-0220 (off-base) or 682-0220 (DSN). Dismissal: 2:35 p.m. daily, 1:35 p.m. on Wednesdays. Please arrange childcare accordingly. 🚸
