Thank you for your participation in last week's Month of the Military Child Family Night! As we approach a busy time of year, please note that End of Year Summative Assessments for grades 3-5 will begin soon. It’s essential to ensure your children are well-rested and have a healthy breakfast on their testing days. 

Please check the newsletter for more details on upcoming events, including the Study Trip for PK-4th Grade on April 25th, our Earth Day Celebration on April 22nd, Bingo Night, and the 5th Annual STEM Expo!

Upcoming Events & Important Information

  • 📚 End of Year Summative Assessment Information: Students in grades 3-5 will begin their EOY summative assessments soon. Please ensure your children are well-rested, attend school, and have a healthy breakfast on their testing days. 

Testing Dates: 

  • 4th & 5th Grade: 
    • ELA Units 1 and 2: April 22nd and 24th
    • Math Units 1, 2, and 3: May 5th, 6th, and 8th
  • 3rd Grade:
    • ELA Units 1 and 2: April 29th and May 1st
    • Math Units 1, 2, and 3: May 12th, 13th, and 15th 
  • Reminder: Study Trip for PK-4th Grade🚍✨ Students in grades PK-4th will participate in a study trip on Friday, April 25th. Parents should have received permission forms from their child's teacher. Please note that students who do not participate in the trip will stay home with an excused absence.
  • 🤖Lego League STEM Club for 2nd & 3rd Grade🏗️Dive into engineering with hands-on projects tackling real-world problems using building blocks and coding tools. Limited to 15 participants; sign up by April 25th! 👉 Sign up here: https://forms.office.com/r/Z25LrMndeg
  • Earth Day Celebration 🌍 Join us on April 22nd for a morning of music and fun! Starting shortly after 9:00 AM, our talented kindergarten and first-grade students will perform in the courtyard next to the main office. In addition to music, students will recite poems and plant orange trees to beautify our campus. Come celebrate Earth Day and support our young performers! We look forward to seeing you there! 🌿
  • School Year Calendar 25-26 📅 The school calendar for the 2025-26 school year is now available! Don’t forget to check the attached document for important dates and events. 📚
  • Bingo Night! 🥳 Join the ROTA ES PTSA for a fun-filled Bingo Night on Friday, April 25th, from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM. Free entry, all are welcome! Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Support your PTSA and have fun with the whole family! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
  • 🚀 Get Ready for the 2025 STEM Expo! 🚀 Join us for Rota Elementary's 5th Annual STEM Expo from April 28th to May 1st, showcasing incredible student projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics! Don’t miss Family Night on April 30th from 5:00-6:30 PM, featuring a showcase of student work and an awards ceremony. This is an exciting event you won’t want to miss!

  • R.I.S.E. (Rota Ignites Spouse Enrichment) Join us on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel. This event features interactive learning sessions from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with limited CYP childcare vouchers available, and an exciting expo from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., focusing on volunteerism, employment, entrepreneurship, self-care, education, and professional development. •Health Reminder for Parents. To maintain a healthy school environment, please keep your child at home if they exhibit any symptoms such as fever (100°F or higher), new rashes with fever, vomiting, diarrhea, draining skin sores, worsening respiratory symptoms, eye redness with discharge, or general unwellness. Your cooperation is essential in preventing the spread of illness. For questions, contact the school nurse.

DoDEA School Dress Code

Students MUST wear:

  • Tops with sleeves (sleeveless tops/dresses are permitted for school sponsored formal events such as prom)
  • Solid clothing (not transparent or translucent) that fully covers the top and bottom from armpit to mid-thigh
  • Shoes (shoes must be safe for the school environment)
    • Bedroom slippers shall not be worn, except for school activities approved by the principal
    • Open toe shoes with a strap across the heel are allowed

Students CANNOT wear clothing with:

  • Language or images promoting violence
  • Language or images that depict, promote, or advocate the illegal use or sale of drugs, alcohol or tobacco products; violent conduct; curse words; pornography; that contain threats or expressions which are violent, discriminatory, lewd or obscene; or that advocate or promote any other illegal item or activity or the use of same
  • Derogatory speech/imagery targeting groups based on race/color, ethnicity/national origin, sex, disability, religion, or any other characteristic protected by law
  • Headgear that obscures the face (except as a religious observance or health purpose); clothing items with hoods attached can be worn but must not cover the head

* Teachers/courses can require certain attire as part of the curriculum (for example: physical education, culinary) that may include specific dress

* DoDEA issued athletic uniforms and athletic practice attire outside of the DoDEA school dress code is permitted when worn by participants during athletic practices and sports events
