Weekly Updates From Rota Elementary - Week of October 23, 2023

We hope this message finds you well. This week, our students have the exciting opportunity to participate in Spirit Week. On Thursday, they can join in the fun by taking part in the Character Book Parade. In addition, we are thrilled to inform you that our school will be hosting a book fair throughout the week. Lastly, on Friday, all students will have the chance to go on a school Study Trip, specific for each grade level. RED RIBBON SPIRIT WEEK: Get ready for a fun-filled Red Ribbon Week from October 23rd to October 26th! Students will have the opportunity to show their spirit by participating in themed dress-up days throughout the week.
- Monday – Wear RED
- Tuesday – Dress Like a Rockstar
- Wednesday – Wear Hawaiian Attire
- Thursday – Dress as Your Favorite Book Character
CHARACTER BOOK PARADE: On Thursday, October 26th, we will conclude the week with a lively Character Book Parade at 8:30 a.m. Students can dress up as their favorite book characters and parade around the school, showcasing their creativity and love for reading. We welcome all parents to join us and cheer on our amazing students during this exciting event.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR: The PTSA will be hosting a book fair this week. Family Night is scheduled for Monday from 5pm-7pm, and students will have the chance to visit the book fair throughout the week.
TRUNK-OR-TREAT: Would you like to sponsor a vehicle for Trunk-or-Treat? MWR still has parking spaces available for families who wish to register a "Trunk" for this Saturday, October 28th. You can decorate your vehicle with a fun theme and hand out candy to the kids. And the best part is, MWR will provide the candy! Simply stop by the Liberty Center and pick up your car pass today!
ROBOTICS CLUB: Rota Elementary School is excited to announce that they are offering a Robotics Club exclusively for 4th and 5th grade students. This club aims to provide an opportunity for students to work collaboratively in teams, where they will have the chance to construct and program a Lego robot. If you're interested in joining the Robotics Club, the online application link will become active at 0800 on Monday, October 23. PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES: Parent-Teacher conferences have been scheduled for November 6th-8th. Quarter 1 conferences are required for all students. This provides an excellent opportunity to directly communicate with the teacher and receive updates on your child's progress. The classroom teachers will send out conference invitations by October 27th. Additionally, the gym and staff will be available to watch their children during the conferences.
INFLUENZA VACCINATIONS: In order to attend school, it is required by the DoDEA that all students have the influenza vaccination. To assist with this, immunizations will be available at the NAVSTA Rota Immunization Clinic. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to receive vaccinations at Rota Elementary School during parent-teacher conferences on November 7th from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and November 8th from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The location for the immunization clinic will be the Multi-Purpose Building.
PLAY FOR FITNESS: Participate in the November Fitness Challenge and “play for fitness”. Each day, students can join a daily challenge. At the month's end, tally the completed days, have your parents sign the sheet, and return it for an award certificate and a small treat. Check the attached form to participate and record your involvement.
