Welcome to the Rota Elementary Weekly Updates! We’re thrilled to announce our district’s Cognia® Systems Accreditation, highlighting our commitment to educational excellence. Please keep personal electronic devices at home to maintain focus and safety. Ensure your child’s immunizations comply with DoDEA requirements for smooth school access. Welcome to the new School Advisory Committee members for 2024-25! Don’t miss the DGF Violin Club sign-ups and the Lemon Chat support groups. - PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES POLICY: Personal electronic devices, including cell phones, music players, and tablets, are prohibited on school premises, buses, and during school activities. Students should only bring essential items for schoolwork, as these devices can be distracting and unsafe. Confiscated devices must be retrieved by a parent or guardian, and repeated offenses may result in disciplinary action. Rota Elementary School is not responsible for lost or stolen devices. Please refer to the attached letter for complete details.
- COGNIA ACCREDITATION RESULTS: Our DoDEA - Europe South District has earned the prestigious Cognia® Systems Accreditation, demonstrating our commitment to high-quality education. This recognition not only highlights our dedication to meeting rigorous standards but also our continuous improvement efforts to enhance your child's learning experience. Additionally, we are honored to be recognized as a System of Distinction by Cognia. For more details on this achievement, please see the attached letter or visit our accreditation report here.
- DODEA IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS: Please be advised that all students enrolled at DGF Elementary School must be fully immunized according to DoDEA regulations. Failure to provide updated immunization records upon enrollment or when requested by school officials may result in your child's inability to attend school. For a complete list of required immunizations, please refer to the attached document.
- SAC MEMBERS FOR SY 24-25 – We are thrilled to announce the new School Advisory Committee (SAC) members for the 2024-25 school year, including Mariana Miller, Heather Selvie, Nicolle Gamboa, Shadow Paul, Abby Robertson, and Heather DeJute as voting members, and Ayanna Pankey, Brianna Priddy, Marjorie Haubry, and Brianna Michaud as designated members. Thank you to all who participated!
- DGF VIOLIN CLUB: Learn to play the violin in our new after-school program starting October 7th! Sign up opens on Monday, September 23rd. Limited spaces are available, so scan the QR code or visit the link https://forms.gle/C9Wgw1jEF7NfKr6d7 to register your child.
- STUDENT SUPPORT GROUPS: Our Military Family Life Counselors (MFLC) are excited to announce Lemon Chat (formerly known as Lunch Bunch) for students! Small groups for 1st and 2nd graders will meet on Mondays from 9:55 AM to 10:35 AM and 10:45 AM to 11:25 AM from September 30, 2024, through June 2, 2025. 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will meet on Tuesdays at 10:05 AM, 10:50 AM, and 11:35 AM during the same periods. Kindergarten small groups will meet on Thursdays at 10:20 AM. Please note that participation requires a commitment to both playground and lunch time, and an MFLC Parent Consent Form must be on file. - FAMILY DEPLOYMENT GROUP: Join us for the Family Deployment Support Group hosted by Military Family Life Counselors (MFLC) on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 2:50 PM to 4:00 PM in the DGF Elementary Library. Upcoming meetings will take place on October 17, November 14, and December 19, 2024. This is a great opportunity for families to connect and receive support during deployment times. - MONTHLY PARENT SUPPORT GROUP FOR CHILD MENTAL WELLNESS: Feeling stuck in supporting your child’s mental health? Join our monthly Parent Support Group on Supporting You & Your Child’s Mental Wellness! In just 1 hour and 15 minutes, you’ll learn effective strategies to support both yourself and your child, recognize mental health “red flags,” and improve family communication. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month from 8:15 to 9:30 AM, starting September 4th at the EDIS Building Conference Room. For more information, please refer to the flyer.
- YEARLY & MONTHLY SCHOOL CALENDARS: Stay informed by checking out the Rota ES annual calendar along with this month’s calendar.
- SCHOOL HOURS: Doors open at 7:50 a.m.; classes start at 8:05 a.m. Late arrivals must be signed in by a parent. Office hours: 7:15 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. daily. Contact: 856-82-0220 (off-base) or 682-0220 (DSN). Dismissal: 2:35 p.m. daily, 1:35 p.m. on Wednesdays. Please arrange childcare accordingly.
